X-Men Master Gordon Smith

Last week I visited the Bell Lighthouse Box for the Toronto International Film Festival's exhibition. It was a gallery honouring the work of special effect genius Gordon Smith. His revolutionary silicon prothetic effects changed the way special effects makeup has been done ever since. I would highly recommend it!

Helmut Newton

I am always searching for inspiration in my life. Todays inspiration comes from the work of great photographer Helmut Newton. His beautifully provocative black and white images broke boundaries and have inspired artists and photographers since the 1940's

The Great Gatsby

I am so excited for the May release of The Great Gatsby! The movie adaptation of of F. Scott Fitzgerald's best seller will undoubtedly be a blockbuster. Directed by Baz Luhrmann, the man who brought us the gorgeous Moulin Rough, and the Leonardo DiCaprio and Clare Danes version of Romeo and Juliet. Two of my favourite movies! A heavy hitting cast of Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan, Tobey Maguire, Isla Fisher, Joel Edgerton and Elizabeth Debicki there will be no shortage of talent on set. As well, the costumes designed by Muiccia Prada and Catherine Martin are STUNNING! Prada released some of the sketches and they are beyond glamourous:

CANT WAIT :)

Bobbi Brown

I am pale. And I don't mean a little. We're talking reflects the sunlight white with white undertones pale. That being said it is more then challenging to find foundation of concealer to match. Until now! I have never tried Bobbi Brown products before, but I am so happy I did! The porcelain concealer and the pressed powder in shade white is PERFECT! In fact girls even paler then me (is that possible?) could probably partake in these products. Thank you Bobbi Brown for offering a paler range then most makeup companies and I will absolutely be repurchasing.

Creamy Concealer:

This concealer has the most beautiful consistency and it does not get flaky (even under my eyes)

Sheer Finish Pressed Powder:
Just the right balance of sheer with a medium coverage. Controls the oil on my T zone and barely requires any touchups throughout the day.

The Best of Fall 2013 Ready to Wear

The glamour and fantasy of Couture is beautiful, but I have always loved Ready to Wear most of all. Something about seeing the impeccably styled models prance down the catwalk sends my imagination into overdrive. I can't wait to try out the trends on myself! Here are some of my favourites from this season:

Isabel Marant

Usually her looks are much more eclectic (re: Elvis in Hawaii from past years!) but this year Marant kept it simple. Her mix of black, white and navy was classy with an edge. Easy to layer shade jackets, colour blocked leggings and architectural blouses are definitely on my must have list now!

Christopher Kane

Christopher Kane mixed classy with almost tacky in the best way this season. Navy fox fur trimmed coats were contradicted with blue and red camo print skirts. Art Nouveau designs were also included with a frazzled spiky finish. Kane said his inspiration was from a human brain and I think his collection was definitely a brain wave!

Chanel

More blues at Chanel! The coats in Lagerfeld's latest were the highlight for me. The detailed tucks and the original pockets had me wishing I could afford a Chanel coat.. Maybe a good thrift store diy?

Prada

Muiccia Prada described this collection as a 'mix of rich and poor'. The gorgeous thirties inspired suiting was styled in a beautifully undone way and the thick soled shoes were a welcome contrast to the delicate heels seen in the other shoes. I will absolutely be channeling thirties glamour in the coming fall with tweed, cat eye sunnies and pattern bags.
